A Brief Biography

Associate Professor of the School of Information Technology and Electronics, National University of Mongolia.

Head of the Center for Faculty Development and Learning Support, National University of Mongolia.

Otgontsetseg holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from National University of Mongolia (NUM), a master’s degree in computer science and electrical engineering from Seoul National University  (South Korea), and a Ph.D. in computer science and electrical engineering from Kumamoto University (Japan). Since 2006, Otgontsetseg has been working at NUM for 17 years, starting as a training engineer, then progressing through roles as a assistant lecturer, lecturer, senior lecturer, and ultimately achieving the position of associate professor from 2020.

Her research interests include data engineering, specifically using educational data, learning analytics, and educational data mining.

She has experience working as a researcher, analyst, and manager in data analysis and machine learning-based science and technology projects. Specifically, she served as a project coordinator in the “Effect of Flipped Classroom Learning in Higher Education” joint project with Stanford University (2014-2015), a data analyst in the “Consultation of Data Analysis for Optimization Metallurgy to Increase Oyutolgoi’s Copper Production” consultation service funded by Oyu Tolgoi LLC (2018-2019), a lead researcher in the “Feasibility Study for E-Learning Platform for Pre-Primary and General Education” funded by UNICEF (2020), a consultant in the GIZ-funded “E-Learning Course Creation” project (2020), a consultant in the data project “Open Data Analysis on Expenses of State-Owned Enterprises” funded by the Open Society Forum (2021), a consultant in the “Data Analysis on Traffic Congestion Problem in Ulaanbaatar City” (2022), a project manager in the “Technology Development of Morinkhuur Music Orchestra” Taiwan-Mongolian joint project funded by the Mongolian Science and Technology Foundation from the Mongolian side (2021-2023), and a project manager in the “Enhancing Education Programmes in Arts and Humanities via European STEM Methods and Tools – ARTEST” European Union-funded project (2021-2025).

Since 2020, she has been working as the head of the Center for Faculty Development and Learning Support at the National University of Mongolia. In this role, she manages and organizes training programs to support the development of academic and research capabilities for NUM faculty members. Additionally, she oversees the development of online learning courses for students and the public, including Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

From 2019, a Chairwoman of the Board, the MJEED Alumni Association.

From 2022, a Member of the Coordinating Board, Mongolian Data Club.
